Order Basics
Is there a minimum order amount?

No. Since the reactive dye process enables us to mimic a woven fabric at much smaller yields and costs, we have no order minimums and every order can achieve the same level of high quality printing with quick turn around times.

Do your fabric prices include printing costs?

Yes, the fabric prices per yard include the cost of printing. There are no extra charges except shipping and taxes where applicable.

Can I print test samples?

Yes, you can print test samples. Please click here for an example on how to start creating your 1 yard sample.

Is there a maximum amount of fabric I can print?

We can print any amount of fabric that you require for your print, however; for orders over 25 yards we will contact you to discuss & confirm.

How long does it take to print and deliver my fabric?

On average, our production turnaround time for a custom printed fabric is approximately 10 business days.

Shipping times will vary depending on your location and your chosen method:
Standard (5-10 business days)
Express (1-2 business days)

*Please note that Express shipping does not affect your order’s production time (average 10 business days).

Do you offer bulk discounts?

We offer a 10% discount for purchases over 75 yards of your design on one fabric type. The discount of 10% will be applied in the cart.

What type of payments do you accept?

We process Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit and debit card payments.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently we ship to the United States & Canada.

Are returns accepted?

Since textile printing is custom and made to order, printed fabric is non-refundable.

We want our customers to have a pleasant and satisfying experience and we will do all we can to ensure you are happy with your final product. In regards to a defect in the fabric you have purchased, please contact us within 10 days of receipt of goods, and be sure to include pictures of the defect in question. We will handle all requests on an individual basis. DYF does not cover shipping charges on returned material.

** Fabric sample booklets and colour maps are also non-returnable.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Please contact us immediately to see if your fabric has been put into production. Any orders already printed cannot be canceled, changed or refunded; however, shipping charges can be canceled and refunded if your order hasn’t been shipped.

What if my order is damaged in transit?

Once your order leaves our facility, it is in the hands of the transportation service. If any damage or delays occur it is your responsibility to contact the transportation company using the tracking number supplied to you. DYF is not liable for any damages that incur while in the couriers care.

Can I supply my own fabric?

You can supply your own fabric, however, we need at least 15 yards of fabric for testing and it needs to be rolled on a core. After the testing, we will let you know whether or not we can print on it.

Please note that in some cases we may decline to test a fabric because of our previous experience with that type of fabric.

Can I pick up my order at your office?

Yes, we do offer local pick up. Please choose local pick up when you are checking out. We will email you when your order is ready for pick up. Our offices are open for pickup Monday to Friday 9:30am-4:30pm EST.

My fabric is damaged, can I get a reprint?

Please note, there may be minor imperfections on your print due to the nature of digital printing.

Please contact us within 10 days of receipt of goods, and be sure to include pictures of the defect in question.

We will handle all requests on an individual basis.

Is the fabric shipped rolled or folded?

All shipments are folded and sent unless the order is over 10 yards, it is then rolled on a core.

If your order is under 10 yards and want it rolled on a core, please email us with your order number and request. A surcharge for the core will apply.

Can I print large runs continuously?

DYF promises 10 yard increments continously for repeating patterns. If your file is over 10 yards, it will be separated it at the 10 yard mark. This does not apply to a centre image.

Reactive Dye Printing
What is the fabric printing process?

At Design Your Fabric we use a reactive dye process that enables us to not only print a multitude of fabrics, but also use a wide gamut of colours. The fixation process ensures your print is permanent and to better serve our customers all fabrics go through a 3 step wash process and ship out ready for you to start your creative process. Reactive dye is the next generation of digital textile printing.

What type of ink/dyes do you use and are they harmful?

Reactive dyes are used in our digital print process. They are water soluble and once fixated, they are not considered harmful.

Is the printing permanent?

Reactive dyes are the most permanent of textile printing. Once printed our fabrics resist excessive running and fading, and remain colour stable throughout your creative process. Colours will always leech from any fabric, however it is very limited with the reactive dye process.

Is your process green?

Digital printing is very much a green approach in regards to textile printing. There is little if any wasted fabric and the rip technology drops the exact amount of ink so waste is limited.

Designing
Why can’t I make my image larger?

When your image is uploaded to our design wizard it will automatically show you a preview of your image at 150 dpi. We have done this so that you can see the lowest resolution (dpi) possible for a quality print.

What file formats are accepted?

We accept a JPEG & TIFF file formats.

Will my design print exactly as shown?

There are many reasons why it is difficult to perfectly colour match your design so that it exactly matches what you see on your computer screen. Customers are encouraged to order a test sample to see what your design will look like on the fabric of your choice.

Fabrics
What fabrics do you offer?

We are pleased to offer our customers one of the largest offerings of fabrics for custom printing including silks, organic and various cottons.

Can I order a fabric sample book?

Yes. We have two fabric swatch booklets available – Standard and Premium fabrics. Each has a 4”x4”sample of each fabric we offer.

Can I provide my own fabric?

You can supply your own fabric, however, we need at least 15 yards of fabric for testing and it needs to be rolled on a core. After the testing, we will let you know whether or not we are able to print on it.

Do you have any organic fabric options?

Yes, we offer organic fabrics. These are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standards.

Do all of your fabrics have a smooth surface?

Not all of our fabrics have a smooth surface. Our heavier fabrics have a rougher surface than our lighter fabrics. Please note: you may notice minor fiber flyaways/fluffs on your prints due to the nature of the fabric itself. This is a normal occurrence when digitally printing on natural fabrics.

Polyester Fabrics
What is polyester?

Polyester is a type of synthetic fabric that is manmade and is commonly known as polyethylene terephthalate (PET). This type of fabric is known for its soft texture, lightweight, durability, wrinkle resistance, and abrasion resistance. Please click for more information on our polyester fabrics.

What is disperse dyes?

Disperse dye is a kind of organic substances that are free of ionizing group and are used to print on synthetic textile materials. They are water insoluble and have excellent wet and light fastness.

Is the printing permanent?

Disperse dyes is the most permanent for printing on synthetic textile printing. Once printed our fabrics will resist to excessive running and fading, and remain colour stable throughout the creative process. Disperse dyes is insoluble to water, however it will naturally fade over long periods of time.
